June 18, 2009 Lady Antebellum is currently in the Top 10 on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart with "I Run To You," the bands third hit from its debut album.
The CD went gold in February, but the trio is hoping its sophomore project will exceed the first ones reach.
"Hopefully itll bust open the doors a lot more than the first album," Charles Kelley told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Were just so excited about it. Weve been writing a bunch for and were kind of working on it right now, but theres still so many people that are just now hearing about us so were going to keep pushing on with this first album. And were just so thrilled with how I Run To You has been doing. I feel like its connected more than any single weve had out so far. Its just been a blessing and if we can keep doing this for the rest of our lives, thats the goal, so hopefully the second album will beat the first. Well see."
In the meantime, Charles has another project in the works. He got engaged to Cassie McConnell on Christmas, and the couple is watching its wedding day creep ever closer.
"Weve been waiting for this day for awhile," he said. "I wont give up the date, but it is coming soon and were just extremely excited and looking forward to it."
The trio has three more immediate dates this weekend, beginning with a performance Thursday in New Berlin, Ill. They join Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert Friday in Somerset, Wis., and Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
