July 9, 2009 The conclusion of Kenny Chesneys Sun City Carnival Tour is still more than two months away, but hes already got a show penciled in on his concert calendar for next June. Kennys slated to be a headliner at the BamaJam Music & Arts Festival in Enterprise, Ala., scheduled for June 3-5, though the specific date for his performance hasnt been announced.
Last months second annual BamaJam, held the weekend prior to the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, pulled in some huge crowds, with the closing-night audience announced at 121,000 people. Thats about triple the number of fans who typically attend Kennys stadium shows, though the size of the crowd doesnt seem to faze the singer, whos won multiple Entertainer of the Year awards.
"I dont really think about that much until its printed," he says. "When Im on stage, I dont really think about those kind of numbers. I just know that theres a lot of people in front of us really enjoyin the songs that theyve heard and lived with. And I do see that. I do see that theres a lot of people out there doin that."
Kennys the only act whos been named thus far for next summers BamaJam, though there will certainly be more artists added. This years version featured Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Kid Rock, the Charlie Daniels Band, Blake Shelton, the Black Crowes, Pat Green and Heidi Newfield, among others.
Kenny meanwhile has more pressing shows to consider. Thursday, hell headline Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, with Taylor Swift, Jake Owen and Kellie Pickler. He plays the Calgary Stampede on Friday and Mountainfest in Merritt, British Columbia, on Saturday.
