Aug. 17, 2009 Justin Moore has one of the top country hits of the summer with "Small Town USA," and theres a good reason why the song has clicked with the audience: He means every word he sings as he celebrates the values associated with average, ordinary Americans.
And he should, because hes one of them.
"I go out and drink beer with everybody after we're done playing," Justin told The Wyoming Tribune. "Everybody seems astounded by that. They're like, 'You're just a normal guy.' Well yeah, I just have a really cool job. Nothing else in my life has changed. I'm not making a million dollars. I just have a really cool job and get to play music for a living."
Well, a little has changed. Justin frequently hears "Small Town USA" when he turns on the radio or sees the video play when he flips on GAC. And last week, he experienced the release of his first album. As a result, hes done a ton of travelling between concert tours and promotional stops. But so far, the attention hasnt changed what he sees when he looks in the mirror in the morning.

"I'm not used to having people just do anything at the drop of the hat," Justin said. " If someone asks if they can give me a cup of coffee, I tell them that I can get it myself and walk over there to the coffee pot. Somebody asked me the other day how do I do that stay true to myself. I'm still scared of my mom and dad, you know. If I changed, they'd whoop my behind!"
Justin will be stopping for coffee and/or a post-show beer with fans in at least three towns this week: He plays Manassas, Va., on Tuesday; Parkersburg, W.Va., on Friday; and Reidsville, N.C., on Saturday.
