August 27, 2009 On Aug. 24, Darius Rucker performed to a packed Grand Ole Opry House as a part of the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series, with a portion of his set slated to air tonight on ABCs late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Fans heard over an hour of songs from Darius debut country album, LEARN TO LIVE, plus a few surprises.
"Im going to play the first country song I ever wrote," said Darius, who shot to the top of the charts as lead singer of the band Hootie & The Blowfish. Then he launched into "Let Her Cry," the famed Hootie & The Blowfish country-tinged hit.
Darius has a special place in his heart for the Opry House, having grown up listening to Grand Ole Opry radio broadcasts. "Im used to getting up and performing my three songs [as in typical Opry performances], so to get up here and play a whole show is really incredible," he says. "I mean, WOW, what a special experience."
In addition to his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, fans can tune in to ABC on August 31 for CMA Music Festival: Countrys Night to Rock. Click here for airtimes.
