Miranda Lambert Makes Evolution With Revolution

Sept. 14, 2009 — Miranda Lambert is barely two weeks away from releasing her third album, Revolution, and she’s packed it with music — 15 tracks in all.

It’s more material than artists usually put on their CDs, and she had to make some financial concessions with her record label to make it happen. But Miranda was willing to do that because she believes so strongly in the music she’s made — and that it belongs together.

"We made this record as a whole album," she told Billboard. "If we took even one song off, it wouldn’t be complete."

Miranda’s Kerosene album went platinum. Her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend CD went gold and earned the Academy of Country Music’s Album of the Year honor in 2008. Yet Miranda thinks Revolution may prove even more important. It’s part of the reason she labored for months in writing the songs and recording the album.

"I’ve had some great success and a steady career," she said, "but I feel like this is the one to take me to the next level. I’m glad I took the time because I have a great product."

Boyfriend Blake Shelton co-wrote three songs on Revolution, and it also features material from singer-songwriters John Prine, Julie Miller and Fred Eaglesmith. Miranda plans to perform the album in its entirety in a sold-out show at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium Sept. 24. The album is due five days later.
