Sept. 15, 2009 Kenny Chesneys made a lot of friends in the music industry, and several of them have joined him on a variety of recordings.
He shared the mic with George Strait on "Shiftwork," duetted with Reba McEntire on "Every Other Weekend," collaborated with Mac McAnally on "Down The Road," worked with Willie Nelson on "Lucky Old Sun" and even did a track with NFL quarterback Peyton Manning on an NFL Country album.
Kennys now found a way to make Dave Matthews a hit on the country charts. Their duet "Im Alive," featured on Kennys Greatest Hits II, reached the Top 15 this week on the USA Today Mediabase chart.
"I first met Dave Matthews at Farm Aid in 2005," Kenny says. "Since then our friendship has grown throughout the years. And we realized that both of us have our core audience. But once you get past that core audience we realized that theres a lot of overlap in people that are coming to see his show and coming to see my show. We talked about doing something together one day. We didnt know it was going to be this soon. But we knew the song had to be right."
"Im Alive" is obviously doing the trick. Though its his latest duet success, Kennys been involved in at least a couple of collaborations that combined even more artists. He worked with Tracy Lawrence and Tim McGraw on "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" and appeared on the mass Jimmy Buffett remake of "Hey Good Lookin" with George Strait, Alan Jackon, Clint Black and Toby Keith.
