Sept. 28, 2009 Carrie Underwood has been well received in Nashville ever since she won "American Idol" and moved to Music City in 2005, and now shes being embraced by the citys orchestra.
Carrie will receive the Harmony Award during the Symphony Ball at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Dec. 12, according to The Tennessean. The honor, presented by the Nashville Symphony, recognizes her contribution to the communitys continued development as a music capital.
It places Carrie in good company. Previous winners of the Harmony Award include LeAnn Rimes, the Judds, Steve Winwood, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts.
Of course, Carrie has at least one other awards ceremony to tend to before then. Shes nominated twice in The 43rd Annual CMA Awards on Nov. 11, though the real pressure that night will come in her role as a co-host of the event with Brad Paisley. Carrie was nervous about it last year, and she probably will be this year, too.
"You dont want to [undermine] a classy organization where theres people in the audience, everybody looks nice, everybodys there for a common goal to celebrate a wonderful year in music and celebrate each other and people are winning things!" she says. "You dont want to get up there and be the one reason that [people think], Oh, that was just an okay show. Or That was a great show, but whats up with the hosts?"
After winning the CMAs Female Vocalist of the Year three times straight, Carries in the running for that trophy again. Shes also nominated with Randy Travis for Musical Event for "I Told You So."
As if the Harmony Award and the CMA involvement arent enough, its a good bet that Carrie will be considering a trip to Los Angeles for the American Music Awards. Shes been a winner there each of the last three years, so shes a likely nominee in this years show. Its slated for Nov. 22, The Los Angeles Times reported. Her album Play On will be released Nov. 3.
