Sept. 28, 2009 — Carrie Underwood has been well received in Nashville ever since she won "American Idol" and moved to Music City in 2005, and now she’s being embraced by the city’s orchestra.

Carrie will receive the Harmony Award during the Symphony Ball at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Dec. 12, according to The Tennessean. The honor, presented by the Nashville Symphony, recognizes her contribution to the community’s continued development as a music capital.

It places Carrie in good company. Previous winners of the Harmony Award include LeAnn Rimes, the Judds, Steve Winwood, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts.

Of course, Carrie has at least one other awards ceremony to tend to before then. She’s nominated twice in The 43rd Annual CMA Awards on Nov. 11, though the real pressure that night will come in her role as a co-host of the event with Brad Paisley. Carrie was nervous about it last year, and she probably will be this year, too.

"You don’t want to [undermine] a classy organization where there’s people in the audience, everybody looks nice, everybody’s there for a common goal — to celebrate a wonderful year in music and celebrate each other — and people are winning things!" she says. "You don’t want to get up there and be the one reason that [people think], ‘Oh, that was just an okay show.’ Or ‘That was a great show, but what’s up with the hosts?’"

After winning the CMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year three times straight, Carrie’s in the running for that trophy again. She’s also nominated with Randy Travis for Musical Event for "I Told You So."

As if the Harmony Award and the CMA involvement aren’t enough, it’s a good bet that Carrie will be considering a trip to Los Angeles for the American Music Awards. She’s been a winner there each of the last three years, so she’s a likely nominee in this year’s show. It’s slated for Nov. 22, The Los Angeles Times reported. Her album Play On will be released Nov. 3.
