Sept. 10, 2008 — For the fourth straight year, Rascal Flatts is performing a major concert at Nashville’s Sommet Center with all the proceeds slated for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Slated for Oct. 17 at the same venue where the Country Music Association will hand out its annual awards in November, the show features opening act Taylor Swift, who’s been a steady presence on the band’s Bob That Head Tour this summer.

"We have been overwhelmed by Nashville’s response to the Children’s Hospital benefit shows in the past three years," lead singer Gary LeVox says. "It matters to us to give back, and we can’t think of a better way to do that than to help right here in our own community. We have our fans and friends in Nashville to thank for being so generous."

The first three benefits generated a whopping $2.2 million for the hospital, including nearly $830,000 last year. The shows were an important factor when Rascal Flatts received the Home Depot Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Country Music in May.
