Nov. 7, 2008 "Theres a first time for everything," Little Texas once sang in its early chart history. And the first time the group ever set up a rehearsal together took place on Nov. 8, 1988.
This weekend is the 20th anniversary of that event, and four of the bands original six members are still working together and jointly blowing out the candles literally or figuratively as they observe Little Texas milestone birthday.
"We're very happy and very blessed to be able to celebrate the 20th year of Little Texas," bass player Duane Propes says. "We've been fortunate to be able to create music that has stood the test of time, which was the biggest goal we set for ourselves when we had our first rehearsal together out in Little Texas, Tenn."
Keyboard player Brady Seals and vocalist Tim Rushlow are long gone from Little Texas, having moved on to solo careers years ago. But Duane is still touring steadily with fellow founders Dwayne OBrien, Del Gray and Porter Howell. And the group is getting set for a series of shows next year on a revamped version of its Triple Threat Tour, teaming them with other bands with two-decade stories: Restless Heart and Diamond Rio.
