NASCAR's top drivers and country's brightest stars come together for the 2008 Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust, January 11 and 12 in downtown Nashville. Legends like Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip and Richard Childress along with Dale Earnhardt Jr. David Stremme, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Ryan Newmand and many more are the featured drivers fans can interact with.
The lineup of country stars includes Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, Josh Turner, Craig Morgan, Bucky Covington, Josh Gracin, Daniel Peck, The Oak Ridge Boys, Richie McDonald, Jason Michael Carrol and more will be the featured musical guests for the event.
- The 2008 Sprint Sound and Speed will kickoff at 4:30 pm on Friday, January 11 at the Gears and Guitars Auction. Fans can not only bid on unique music and racing items, but will have the opportunity to meet a driver and see an exclusive artist concert.
- Starting at 7 pm on January 11, Sprint Sound and Speed ticket holders can visit Honky Tonk Pit Stop. Honky Tonk Pit Stop comprises of various bars along Nashville’s famous Broadway.
- Saturday, January 12 is when the rubber hits Music City’s pavement. Gaylord Entertainment Center doors open for the Backstage Garage Pass at 9 a.m. for fans to catch a glimpse of 2008 NASCAR Nextel Cup showcars. NASCAR and country music fans will be able to get up close and personal with drivers and artists in the Q& A and autograph sessions. Ticket holders will be able to hear country music’s future as the new artist showcase will be happening throughout the day.
- Fans can also walk down 5th Avenue to the famous Ryman Auditorium for “Legends Unplugged.” Here fans hear stories from the country music and NASCAR legends. Sessions begin at 9 am, 11 am, and 1 pm.
Proceeds from Sound & Speed benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum charities and the Victory Junction Gang Camp for children with serious illnesses (founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty).
Victory Junction Gang was founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty along with actor Paul Newman. The Victory Junction Gang Camp enriches the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound.
The first two Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust events drew an estimated 25,000 fans and raised more than $500,000 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.
