How it Works
- To get started and enter the competition you need to register now and upload your video.
- The weekly voting starts on May 23 and runs through July 21. Every week two semi-finalists will be selected – one fan voted and the other selected by our industry staff…16 semi-finalists in all.
- Our panel of celebrity judges will then narrow the field of 16 semi-finalists down to six finalists who will fly to Nashville for the televised competition in September.
- The Next GAC Star winner will be selected by fan voting during the GAC televised finals!
How to Enter
It’s easy! Just register, create your profile and upload your media (video or audio) in The Next GAC Star contest section of MusicNation.com.
The Next GAC Star F.A.Q.
- Are there any age limits?
- Yes – you must be 16 or older.
- What is the deadline for submitting entries?
- Registration is open from April 28 – July 21, 2008. A new round of voting starts every week so you can register any time right up to the end and still have a chance to win!
- What is the registration fee?
- There isn’t one…it’s free!
- Can duos or groups enter?
- Yes. The competition is open to all acts!
- Do I need to have a video to enter?
- Not necessarily but it’s a good idea. To enter the contest, all you need is an artist profile and at least one MP3 OR video. However, to be seriously considered, you should probably upload
a video.
- Can I submit more than one entry/song?
- No. Pick wisely – you can only submit one contest entry. You can post as many songs/videos as you want on your profile page, but only one can be submitted for this contest!
- Do I have to perform an original song or can I cover an existing country song?
- You can perform your own original song OR you can perform an existing country song as long as it is one of the pre-approved songs on our list. Click here to view the complete list of all approved songs >> Please keep in mind that if your entry is not your own original song or a song from our pre-approved list, your entry will not be considered eligible for the contest.
- Can I compete if I’m more of a bluegrass or Americana style singer?
- Sure. Just keep in mind that this is The Next GAC Star competition and the “C” in GAC stands for country, so don’t stray too far from home!
- What if I’ve already competed in or won one of the other contests at MusicNation.com? Can I still compete in this one?
- Yes.
- How are the 16 weekly semi-finalists picked?
- Starting on May 23, your entry will be featured in The Next GAC Star “Head 2 Head” player so fans can pick their favorites. Each week, starting on June 2, one semi-finalist will be selected by the fans and one will be selected by our industry panel.
- How is the overall winner picked?
- After you the fans and our industry panel narrow the field to 16 semi-finalists, our team of celebrity judges will select the six finalists for the televised finals. The Next GAC Star winner will then be selected by fan voting!
- What does the winner get?
- The overall winner will have their performance video featured on GAC and GACTV.com, a recording contract with Original Signal, and a whole lot more!
- What is MusicNation?
