Introducing: Laura Bell Bundy
For Laura Bell Bundy, the road to Nashville took a detour down New York's famed Broadway Avenue. Laura Bell was born in Kentucky, listening to country music. Her unusual talent for performing landed her network TV shows and performances with Broadway touring companies at the young age of nine. She returned home to Kentucky when she was 14, then headed back to New York at 18, where she landed a recurring role on The Guiding Light. Laura Bell originated the lead role of Elle Woods in the Broadway musical Legally Blonde, for which she was nominated for a Tony, and also appeared in Hairspray and Wicked. Still, she always dreamed of a recording career in country music. "It wasn't until I was on the Broadway radar that Nashville noticed me," she says. "Isn't that ironic?" Introducing: Laura Bell Bundy features a look at her new country album, follows her home to Kentucky, and offers a look into the unusual characters that live inside the head of this vivacious performer!
